Description:

Black Snail Patterns is a small bussines in Austria specialised in historically accurate patterns. The patterns come with detailed instructions and if you still have some questions or comments, you can ask them in a Facebook group made by the lady behind Black Snail Patterns!

This jacket is designed after a typical jacket from around 1890, with puffed sleeves and large lapels. The double breasted jacket is cut narrow at the waist and has a peplum at the back. All outside edges except the front bottom edge are piped. The jacket can be worn with or without a corset underneath.
As this jacket is mentioned to be made from a lightweight fabric like silk taffeta I recommend flatlining the entire jacket with a midweight cotton or silk organza. A waxed and slippery cotton fabric as sateen was commonly used for lining jackets.
The “turn of cloth” has already been allowed for when patterning the collar and lapel and added to necessary pattern pieces.
As the jacket is not mentioned to be worn open you can make a “fake” double breasted closure with snap fasteners, hidden underneath the buttons. Check my blog for further pictures and details.

Pattern fits perfectly with:
#0414 Fan-Skirt and #0816 Edwaridan Blouse:

The Jacket can be worn with or without a corset.

Also suitable for cosplay or steampunk costumes.

The pattern comes with detailed and illustrated sewing instructions in English and German.
It is a multi size pattern, you can choose between US 8-18 (EU 34-44) and US 20-30 (EU 46-56).
